Meet our exceptional service advisor, Amy Clifford! With an impressive two decades at MetzWood, Amy stands as a true cornerstone of our team. She boasts an extensive background in the insurance industry, showcasing her expertise and dedication. At MetzWood, Amy passionately serves our clients, providing comprehensive guidance across various insurance domains such as homeowners, auto, and more!

Clients have expressed that Amy is always there when they need her, and they feel safe enough in her hands that the whole family is insured with MetzWood! We sat down with Amy to delve into her career journey and the life she leads beyond her 9-to-5 routine. 

What drew you to work for MetzWood Insurance initially?

I loved that MetzWood was a local business. When my kids were growing up, I wanted to work in the community where we were raising them. 

What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone shopping for different insurance policies?

Don't buy insurance based solely on rates! Many companies and agents are willing to cut coverages to lower the cost without discussing the potentially dangerous implications with the customer. 

Tell us something you’re passionate about.

Skiing, both downhill and cross country. Our favorite local ski areas are Stratton & Killington. Each year we visit a different spot out west. We have been to Palisades in CA, Utah & Jackson Hole. I love winter! 

We love to travel and have been to England, Ireland, Germany, Austria & Slovakia! I also love exploring other cultures and visiting historic locations!

What causes or charities are important to you?

I prioritize helping local organizations like the food pantry and organizations that assist children, for example, the PTA, backpack programs, and Morris Memorial.  

What do you like most about the area you live?

I like that we are centrally located. It's easy to visit New York City, the Berkshires, the Adirondacks, and the Finger Lakes.  I also enjoy the close-knit community of a small town.

You're celebrating your 20th anniversary with the company, congrats! Do you have a favorite memory from working at MetzWood? 

My favorite part of my job is saving clients money!  We proactively review each client when they experience a rate increase and if less expensive options are available, we rewrite them. I love to let customers know we can help reduce their premiums!  

Aside from that, MetzWood has great company outings. We’ve done Saratoga Racetrack, outings at local breweries, a limo ride to a day spa, Dave & Busters, and dinner out!
