We’re proud to spotlight Mandy Green, Licensed Advisor at MetzWood Insurance, whose appreciation for strong reputation, long-standing relationships, and industry growth drew her to the team.
What drew you to work for MetzWood Insurance initially?
MetzWood Insurance has always had a stellar reputation and is very well respected. The longevity of their agents, in addition to their continuous growth in this industry, were the biggest factors in accepting my position here.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone shopping for different insurance policies?
Coverage and service should always come before premium. While the cost of living is high and the insurance market is tough, a large loss could be detrimental if you find you do not have adequate coverage.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I dream of a cross-country trip in the next five years. I would like to drive out across the northern states to Oregon and Washington, camping along the way. The lava tunnels from Mount St. Helens fascinate me, in addition to exploring the forests of Oregon.
Tell us something you’re passionate about.
I am very passionate about our local farmers and makers. So much is grown and made in New York State, even more specifically, the Hudson Valley. Buying from your local farmer or maker not only helps support their families and dreams, but it also allows us to utilize our local resources.
What causes or charities are important to you?
Mental health care is a big issue today. So many suffer in silence and never receive the care they need. Most insurance plans only afford so many therapy appointments per year. And if you don't have insurance, these therapy appointments can be quite costly. We really need to focus on finding a way to make mental health care more affordable and attainable for everyone.
What do you like most about the area you live?
I’m grateful and lucky to have grown up in rural Columbia County. Of course, I couldn’t wait to get out and explore life outside of Chatham after high school. But as I got older, I started to miss home and that small town feeling. If you’re from Columbia County, you know the charm, I mean. It's really something special.
What's something surprising your clients might not know about you?
I enjoy the challenge of cooking from scratch, taking your basic kitchen staples and creating a beautiful meal. It's a way of life that seems to be a little lost; we need to get back to the basics.
From supporting local farmers to advocating for accessible mental health care, Mandy’s values-driven approach is a true reflection of the thoughtful, client-first service that defines MetzWood Insurance.
