Supporting Local Organizations for National Nonprofit Day

At MetzWood Insurance, we believe that a strong community is built upon the collective efforts of its residents and local organizations. As we celebrate National Nonprofit Day, it's a perfect opportunity to shine a spotlight on some incredible local organizations that are making a significant impact both in Chatham and the Hudson Valley. Giving back to our community has been at the heart of our mission, and we're proud to support these outstanding organizations that are making a difference in the lives of our neighbors. Here are some nonprofits that our team members currently support:

Columbia County Habitat for Humanity

Housing is a necessity, and Columbia County Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to providing safe and affordable homes for families in our region. In fact, they are the current recipients of our Help Our Community Referral Program! Their impactful work is further supported by the ReStore in Hudson, where recycled and reclaimed materials and furniture find new life and generate funds for Habitat's projects. MetzWood Insurance acknowledges the importance of stable homes in nurturing a thriving community and is thrilled to support their mission of building dreams and restoring hope.

Equine Advocates

One of the nonprofits close to our hearts is Equine Advocates. Yvette, one of our insurance advisors, says of the organization, “They are important to me for the work they do in rescuing horses, taking care of them, and giving them a home to live out the rest of their lives.” Their dedication to the well-being and welfare of horses and other equine creatures is truly inspiring. Through their educational programs, rescue efforts, and rehabilitation initiatives, they have not only raised awareness about responsible equine care but have also provided a second chance at life for many animals. MetzWood Insurance is proud to support their efforts in promoting compassion and responsible horsemanship in our community.

Chatham Area Silent Pantry

The Chatham Area Silent Pantry is another remarkable organization that embodies the spirit of community support. By tirelessly working to alleviate hunger, they ensure that families in need have access to nutritious food and basic essentials. This is a favorite of Amy Clifford, who prioritizes organizations that are local and support our community’s children. Their commitment to preserving the dignity of every individual aligns perfectly with our values at MetzWood Insurance. We're honored to stand by their side in the fight against hunger and help build a stronger, more resilient community.

Columbia County Chapter of The Arc New York (COARC)

Diversity is a strength, and COARC is a shining example of an organization that champions inclusion for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their efforts to promote understanding, acceptance, and independence are a testament to the power of compassion. This organization is a favorite of our service assistant, Elizabeth Carroll, who’s a mother of two young boys on the Autism spectrum. MetzWood Insurance believes in a community that embraces all its members, and we proudly support The Arc's mission of creating a more inclusive society.

Morris Memorial

Morris Memorial is a community hub that offers local youth an array of activities, from basketball and crafts to puppetry workshops and language classes. Chosen as a notable nonprofit by our president Matthew Wood, this program serves as a venue for various community groups, from sports like soccer and basketball to fitness classes like Zumba and Tai Chi. With a commitment to healthy living, the Morris facilitates youth sports programs for soccer, basketball, and track and field, building a sense of community and aiding in the development of young people in Columbia County.

Triform Camphill Community

The Triform Camphill Community is supported by our teammate Tracy Ruggiero. The nonprofit is dedicated to providing a supportive and nurturing environment for young adults with developmental differences. Through meaningful work, artistic expression, and community living, they foster personal growth and celebrate the unique abilities of each individual. MetzWood Insurance recognizes the importance of fostering an environment where everyone can flourish, and we're honored to contribute to the success of this exceptional community.

Columbia Land Conservancy and Rensselaer Land Trust

The Columbia Land Conservancy and Rensselaer Land Trust’s dedication to land conservation aligns seamlessly with our core values at MetzWood Insurance. These organizations are favored by our team member Sarah York, who says “I love feeling connected to nature and conserving our natural resources is something I fully support.” We understand that a thriving community encompasses not only the well-being of its residents but also the health of its natural surroundings. By protecting and preserving diverse landscapes, habitats, and water resources, the Land Conservancy and Land Trust are helping to create a sustainable future that benefits us all.

As National Nonprofit Day reminds us of the incredible impact that local nonprofits have on our community, MetzWood Insurance takes pride in our commitment to giving back. We celebrate the dedication, passion, and unwavering efforts of organizations. With the work of these organizations and many more, we continue to build a stronger, more compassionate Hudson Valley for all. Join us in celebrating these remarkable nonprofits today and every day!
