What drew you to work for MetzWood Insurance initially?
I was looking for a new job opportunity and wanted to do something different. I have worked for many carriers, but never for an Agency. When I spoke with a friend of mine who is a marketing rep for a company, he suggested that I apply to MetzWood. He said that they are great people and that I would fit in with their culture.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone shopping for different insurance policies?
While everyone looks at price, the customer service provided by the Company is equally, and sometimes, even more important than price. As the Claims Advocate, I work with policyholders who have had accidents/incidents and need to put in a claim. How the Company responds to a claim can make or break someone's opinion of the company.
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
I don't have just one place. In the last couple of years, I have started to travel outside of the United States. I went to Israel and Iceland. We are looking at Italy for next year. My husband and I want to go to a new place every year as we both enjoy traveling.
Tell us something you’re passionate about.
Leading a healthy lifestyle. I ride my exercise bike and walk daily, and I try to eat fairly healthy for the most part. I don't like to just sit around. Especially as I get older, I think it is important to stay physically, mentally and spiritually active.
What causes or charities are important to you?
Charities that involve helping the elderly are important to me. I think they are a vulnerable group of people and I want to make sure that they are taken care of as they age. I visit an elderly aunt every week, so I see the necessity of providing for these individuals when they no longer can do it themselves.
What do you like most about the area you live?
I like that I live fairly close to my family. Although I like having mountains around and I enjoy the four seasons (although a little less winter would be fine), I would move anywhere to be around my family. My immediate family lives in the capital region and most of my extended family lives within a 3 to 4-hour radius.
What's something surprising your clients might not know about you?
While I have only been at the agency a little less than two years, I have 40 years of insurance experience and 25 years of that in claims. I really understand the claims process and am in a position to really help them.
Anything else you would like to say?
I spend my entire day providing a service to the MetzWood clients and I like to think that they are getting more than what they paid for when they purchased the policy. I try to go above and beyond for all of our policyholders to take the stress out of the claims process.
